New Orleans paradegoers who "marked" their spot on the route aren't happy with officials this morning.

People who put out ladders, couches or other placeholders along the parade route noticed their property was no longer holding their spot yesterday. Ann McDonald—the head of Parks and Parkway—said crews were out and about looking for these "placeholders" during a news conference surrounding Mardi Gras preparations.

Putting ladders in spots along the parade route is nothing new, but if that ladder is put out on public space any sooner than 24 hours before the parade, it will be removed. Sofas and furniture aren't allowed.

The first big New Orleans parade rolls this Friday.
