NEW IBERIA, LA – Today, Congressman Jeff Landry (Republican, LA-03) praised U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson’s verdict that the federal government has no constitutional authority to force Americans to purchase privately-distributed products, such as health insurance.

“President Obama and the liberals in the last Congress violated the Constitution by trying to force every American to buy health insurance. This month, I proudly co-sponsored and voted to repeal the job-killing health care law, and today I commend Judge Vinson’s ruling,” said Landry.
The lawsuit in question was brought in Florida by 26 states, the National Federation of Independent Business, and two individuals. Last December, U.S. District Court Judge Henry Hudson in Virginia found Obamacare unconstitutional because it exceeded the boundaries of congressional power.
