A man pleads guilty to stealing from the government. Mona Hardwick with Attorney Stephanie Finley's office says Kevin Leday of Opelousas admitted in federal court to claiming nearly $42,000 in social security benefits after he was supposed to.

Hardwick says Leday began getting the payments in 2002 after saying he was not able to work because of an injury. But when he went back to work four years later, Hardwick says he failed to tell the Social Security Administration and continued to receive the payments through 2010.

At sentencing, Leday faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of not more than $250,000, or both, and no more than three years of probation.
