Opelousas Parents Arrested After Son Found Living in Shed
42-year-old Larry James Lewis and 35-year-old Antoinette Lewis, both of Opelousas, are accused of taking a punishment too far after their teenager was found living in a shed.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Major Eddie Thibodeaux says the 14-year-old was found living in a shed without air conditioning for the past few weeks.
"Investigators went inside the shed where the juvenile said he was living and noticed there was a sofa set containing a pillow and blanket, a black trash bag containing clothes, and a table with deodorant and cologne on it," points out Major Thibodeaux.
Investigators say the 14-year-old was sent to live in the shed by the parents because he kept stealing and would not do chores.
"He told the juvenile detectives that he hadn't bathed or eaten in two days and that family would only feed him table scraps."
Larry and Antoinette Lewis have each been charged with Felony Cruelty to a Juvenile are now being held on bonds of $7,500 and $25,000, respectively.
