Owner Of Greenwood Shoes Arrested For Arson After Fire Ravaged Business In February
It turns out the fire was no accident.
That's according to Lafayette fire investigators, who say the fire which heavily damaged Greenwood Shoes on Jefferson Street on Sunday, February 4, 2018, was intentionally set by owner 56-year-old David Leblanc. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and charged with Arson with Intent to Defraud.
Fire investigators say the fire originated in the stock room of the business. The business was closed Saturday evening. The interior of the building was heavily damaged. The owner of the building and the apartment upstairs, Lynette Knippa, was out of town. The apartment, as well as adjacent buildings, sustained light to minor smoke damage.
