A person was sent to the hospital Friday morning after he was attacked with a knife while he tried to throw away his garbage, according to Lafayette Police.

LPD officers say the incident happened around 7:00 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Stewart Street when the victim says he was confronted in the parking lot on his way to the dumpster by the suspect, who allegedly began threatening him with a knife and demanding money. The victim says the suspect began attacking him when he told the attacker he had no valuables on him, causing multiple cuts to his forearms and hands.

The suspect, who got away, is described as a black male about 30-year-old, 6'2" tall and medium build.
