A person was shot Tuesday just as an anti-violence rally was about to start in Opelousas.

According to our news partners at KATC, the victim was shot once in the lower body, the shot coming from a beige four-door Buick sedan that was passing a home on Park Avenue. The rally, called the "Take Back the Night" march, was getting underway nearby at Opelousas Middle School. The rally still went on, ending at the St. Landry Parish courthouse.

Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow says they are looking for a person of interest.
