Photos from under the Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, got the attention of many after they were posted on social media.

David Catorie posted photos of a column from under the bridge, near Nicholson Drive, and as you can see here, the surface of the column is cracked and damaged.

The photos were taken near Nicholson Drive, just as you get on the iconic bridge in Baton Rouge,

After the photos started to circulate on social media, it got the attention of the Department of Transportation & Development because they have reportedly investigated the column in question from under the Mississippi River Bridge.

WBRZ reports that DOTD has determined this to be a cosmetic issue, and not a structural issue under the bridge.

DOTD Director of Communications Rodney Mallett said, "The rebar and steel are not compromised."

He would add that the bridge was recently inspected by his agency, and that the cosmetic issues under the bridge would be addressed soon.
