In a poll taken of registered voters in Lafayette Parish, 81 percent said the completion of the I-49 South Connector Project is important to the future of the Parish.

The poll--conducted by Vermilion Marketing and Research--was conducted in January, with 500 registered voters responding.

Nine percent of the respondents thought the project's completion shows little importance to the parish's future--while eight percent were swayed neither way.

The project--which is still in its infant stages-- is aimed to connect Lafayette and New Orleans through the current Highway 90 corridor.

The poll, commissioned by One Acadiana, is being used for market analysis purposes.
