Pro-Vitter PAC Challenges Louisiana Campaign Donor Limit
The group is asking a federal judge to throw out the donor limits that the state has set for political action committees.
The group supporting U.S. Senator David Vitter is The Fund For Louisiana's Future. The group has filed a federal lawsuit that takes to task the limits set on political speech. They say it's unconstitutional.
Right now state law sets contributions at $100,000 per election cycle. Super PACs can raise unlimited funds to help candidates on the federal level.
Louisiana ethic board refused to get rid of the cap, noting that they can't just declare a law unconstitutional.
The Fund for Louisiana's Future is raising money for Vitter. Vitter is running for governor next year.
