Rayne Man Arrested On Drug Charges

A 25-year-old Rayne man is in jail on a long list of charges, including possessing drugs with the intent to distribute them.

Rayne Police Chief Carrol Stelly says his office responded to a disturbance where they found LaPekus Francis in possession of a large amount of Xanax.

"[Francis also] had possession of a semiautomatic firearm that had an obliterated serial number," Stelly said.

The case remains under investigation, but Stelly says this is not Francis's first run-in with the law. He says Francis has prior drug convictions on his record.
