Rayne Man Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison on Child Porn Charges

44-year-old Joseph Emery Menard of Rayne has been sentenced to 30 years in prison followed by 15 years probation for receiving child pornography.

Court documents from the U.S. Attorney's Office say Menard has been in trouble with the law before, pleading guilty to two counts of molestation of a juvenile on May 15, 2000. This time, a search warrant of his home found over 600 images of child pornography - some of which were of prepubescent children - on a computer inside. Menard admitted to downloading the images, which he knew contained child pornography, in November of 2018.
