If you enjoy catching some red snapper, then you're getting a few more weekends to do so.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has issued a declaration of emergency to reopen the recreational red snapper season on weekends only, effective November 1, until further notice.

Weekends are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The latest catch statistics by LA Creel, LDWF's near real-time data collection program, show some 777,830 pounds, or 95% of Louisiana's allocation (816,439 pounds) being caught.

Basically, we've got more fish to catch.

Now get out and do some fishing.
