ORIGINAL STORY: KEEL News sources are confirming a report from KSLA that says four Shreveport Police Officers will be indicted in connection to the death of Tommie McGlothen.
44-year-old McGlothen died in police custody earlier this year, after a struggle with Shreveport Police Officers on Eileen Lane. Witnesses stated that McGlothen had been hit multiple times with batons, slammed into cars, and his head struck the ground during the altercation.
These witness statements appeared to be corroborated through video evidence that KSLA obtained and released in June. In the video, officers could be seen striking McGlothen, and using a taser on him. It also appeared that McGlothen's head struck the ground at one point in the video as well.
After the violent altercation, McGlothen was placed in the back of a Shreveport Police vehicle, where he eventually went unconscious, before passing away.
The four Shreveport Police Officers involved were placed on leave, and the Louisiana State Police were involved in the investigation of the incident.
According to the current reports, and source that KEEL News has heard from, the four Shreveport Police Officers involved in this case will be facing Negligent Homicide and Malfeasance charges. KSLA reports they have spoken to a Caddo Parish District Attorney Spokesperson who says the formal announcements will come later today.
