SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Commuters in the San Francisco Bay area have a way to get to work this morning.

Gov. Jerry Brown has averted a strike set for today, and has ordered a seven-day investigation into the contract dispute that's threatened to shut down the transit system.

Brown says for the sake of Bay Area commuters, he's urging "the parties to meet quickly and as long as necessary to get this dispute resolved."
