Residents Should Be Wary Of Summer-Time Scams (Audio)
St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers Spokesman Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux is warning residents of ongoing scams in the area.
Thibodeaux told Bernadette Lee on Acadiana's Morning News that his office receives calls about individuals offering to do home improvement projects, but they may not have your best interests in mind.
With summer approaching, scammers may offer to do projects such as yard work, driveway repairs, roofing repairs etc.
Thibodeaux said residents who are victims of this kind of activity, should immediately contact their local police department.
The malevolent contractors may do shoddy work and/or demand payment before any work is done.
This week's Crime of the Week involves a burglary at the maintenance building of the Living Water Christian Church in Opelousas.
