
5 Dead, More Injured in School Shooting in Madison, Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. (KPEL News) — Police have confirmed that tfive people, including the shooter, are dead following a tragic shooting Monday at a Christian school in Wisconsin. Seven others have been transported to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.
The shooting took place at Abundant Life Christian School, a nondenominational school in Madison, Wisconsin’s state capital. Madison police have described the situation as an “active and ongoing investigation.”
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” Madison police said in a statement. “More information will be released as it is available. We currently need people to avoid the area.”
Police have cordoned off the surrounding roads as they continue to secure the scene. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have also joined local law enforcement to assist with the investigation.
A Community in Shock
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed his condolences and solidarity with the community.
“We are praying for the kids, educators, and the entire Abundant Life school community as we await more information, and we are grateful for the first responders who are working quickly to respond,” Gov. Evers said in a statement.
The school, which serves about 390 students from kindergarten through high school, is well-regarded in the community for its faith-based curriculum. Its website highlights its commitment to fostering both academic excellence and Christian values.
