On NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL's 'Brand Buzz' this week Jaci Russo discussed the importance of small innovations. She had two prime examples of small innovations in Lafayette, one in sports and one in business. According to Russo,

For sports if you look at what (Coach Mark) Hudspeth and (Coach Tony)Robichaux have done with the football and baseball teams as well as all the other coaches at UL for sure. Hudspeth came in and took the same team basically from the year before and went from a 3-9 record to a 9-3 record. What did he do? He made small innovations. They (the team) wore coats and ties everywhere. Study hall became more serious. Training in August, the two-a-days got a lot more hardcore.

As a local business example of small innovations Russo pointed to Red Lerille's health club.

Red Lerille has for years been the business story that I think you can look at for the inspiration of small innovations. Every month he improves something. Sometimes it's little things, sometimes it's a big thing but it is constant innovation and not just innovation for innovation sake but there's a way to make something better.
