GLENDORA, Calif. (AP) — Some of the 3,700 residents forced to evacuate a wildfire in California's San Gabriel Mountains have been allowed to return home. But other areas remain under evacuation orders.

The fire burned through 2 ½ square miles northeast of Los Angeles and destroyed five homes.

Fire officials say they have "good solid containment" around almost every neighborhood in the communities of Glendora and Azusa, and Glendora residents were given the OK to return home last night.
