St. Landry Board Looks At $7.5 Million Surplus
There will be more money in the coffers for the St. Landry Parish School Board.
The school board's finance committee showed the board their information about a $7.5 million dollar profit for the 2012-13 school year.
The committee says it's a case of higher than expected revenue and lower than expected expenses.
The school board also introduced a proposed budget for the upcoming school year, but it quickly became unclear as to whether or not the finance committee held a mandatory public hearing on the budget.
That meeting has now been scheduled to happen at the September 5 meeting.
The proposed budget estimates $103.3 million in revenues, $111.5 million in expenses and $9.4 million in fund transfers with a net $1.1 million profit.
