St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Arrest Report

Juvenile male, 12, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 2, 2017 at 12:07 pm for misdemeanor sexual battery. A school resource officer investigating a complaint of a possible sexual battery that occurred at Centerville Junior High School found evidence that the juvenile male grabbed a juvenile female's breast. The juvenile male was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Roderick Davis, 25, 507 Daspit Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on March 2, 2017 at 2:46 pm on a warrant for (attempted) second degree murder and domestic abuse battery. The warrant was obtained following an investigation into a complaint of an illegal discharge of a firearm on Pepper Road in Jeanerette that was reported in March of 2016. Detectives found evidence that Davis grabbed a female victim during an argument. As the argument progressed, Davis retrieved a handgun from a vehicle and fired the weapon at a male victim. Davis then left the area. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest. A correctional officer transported Davis from the Iberia Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Davis was released after posting a $77,000 bond.
Kenneth W. Meaux, 39, 2618 North Curtis Lane, New Iberia, LA was arrested on March 2, 2017 at 2:49 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle with a suspended license. A correctional officer transported Meaux from the Lafayette Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Meaux was released on summons to appear in court on June 13, 2017.
Brandon Soprano, 23, 6556 Highway 87, Charenton, LA was arrested on march 2, 2017 at 10:14 pm for the following violations:

Warrant for aggravated flight from an officer, 3 counts stop sign violation, traffic control signal violation, 4 counts turning movements and required signals violations, aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce, resisting an officer, no proof of motor vehicle insurance, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), and possession of drug paraphernalia
Deputies received information from Baldwin Police regarding the whereabouts of Soprano who was wanted on active warrants. Deputies responded to the location and learned that Soprano left just prior to their arrival. Deputies then received information from Chitimacha Police that Soprano was traveling on Ralph Darden Memorial Parkway. Deputies located Soprano on Bollard Street and initiated a traffic stop on Rod Lane. Soprano refused to pull over traveling onto Railroad Avenue, Orphan Home Road, and Highway 182. Soprano did not stop at 2 stop signs and nearly struck another vehicle on the roadway and a patrol unit. Soprano then stopped on Charenton Road, got out of the pick-up truck, and fled on foot through several yards. Deputies pursued Soprano on foot. Soprano then entered the Bayou Teche and swam across the waterway. A deputy waiting on the opposite bank apprehended him. Deputies found a synthetic marijuana cigarette in his pocket. Deputies also c conducted a search of the pick-up truck and located methamphetamine in packaging that is consistent with street level illegal drug sales. Deputies also located a chainsaw and gas can that had been reported stolen from a residence earlier in the day.
The warrant for aggravated flight and other offenses was issued following a complaint of reckless driving on Yokely Road in Franklin received at 7:30 pm on February 25, 2017. …, deputies responded to the report. The dispatcher also received information that the subject was wanted on an active warrant and was possibly involved in a prior disturbance. A deputy located the suspect vehicle on Highway 182 in Franklin and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Brandon Soprano, failed to pull over. The deputy followed the vehicle and observed Soprano turn onto Yokely Road where he accelerated to a high rate of speed. Officers with the Chitimacha Tribal Police Department and the Franklin Police Department as well as additional sheriff's deputies responded to assist in stopping the vehicle. Soprano continued speeding onto Northwest Boulevard, Highway 182, Highway 87, and Chitimacha Trail. Soprano drove through several intersections without stopping at stop signs. The deputy also observed Soprano run a red light and force several other vehicles off the roadway. Soprano stopped on Chitimacha Trail, got out of the car, and fled on foot. The deputy pursued Soprano on foot to Bayou Teche. Soprano crossed the waterway and fled into the woods. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect at that time.
Soprano was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Joshua Dimaggio, 19, 1803 Rose Street, Lot #2, Berwick, LA was arrested on march 2, 2017 at 9:30 pm for simple assault and telephone harassment. A deputy responded to a complaint of harassment in Berwick and viewed evidence that Dimaggio threatened a female victim's life via text message and voice mail. Dimaggio was released on a summons to appear in court on June 13, 2017.
Cory J. Fernandez, 28, 120 Terrebonne Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 3, 2017 at 4:40 am for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and careless operation. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of a single vehicle crash in the 900 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista. The deputy observed a vehicle in the front yard of the residence and located the driver who was identified as Fernandez. The deputy determined that Fernandez left the roadway, struck a mailbox, entered the resident's yard, and struck a crepe myrtle tree. The deputy observed several indicators of impairment while speaking with Fernandez and conducted a standardized field sobriety test. Fernandez completed part of the test and performed poorly. Fernandez later registered a 0.170g% blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Walter Kidder , 33, 205 Neptune Street, Apt. #1, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on march 2, 2017 at 6:23 pm for the following offenses:
- Stop sign violation
- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine)
- Possession of Schedule 1 (marijuana)
- Possession of Schedule III (Subutex)
- Possession of Schedule III (Suboxone)
- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
Narcotics detectives patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Middle and Jupiter Roads. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and identified Kidder as the driver. While speaking with him, detectives received consent to search and located a Suboxone strip on Kidder’s person. Detectives also found methamphetamine, marijuana, and a Subutex pill inside the vehicle. The illegal drugs were located within 2,000 feet of a church and school. Kidder was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Eric Simon , 36, 934 Elizabeth Street, Donaldsonville, LA was arrested on March 2, 2017 at 8:27 pm for the following offenses:
- Improper lane usage
- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
- Warrant from Ascension Parish for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks
Quinton Ratcliff , 44, 208 Sparrow Street, Labadieville, LA was arrested on march 2, 2017 at 8:27 pm for the following offenses:
- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute
- Possession of Schedule II (cocaine)
- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section patrolling Bayou Vista conducted a traffic stop for improper lane usage on Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. Detectives identified the driver as Simon and the passenger as Ratcliff. Detectives were advised of a firearm inside the vehicle. The gun was removed for officer safety during the traffic stop. While speaking with Simon, detectives received consent to search and found a bag of cocaine on Ratcliff’s person along with a cut straw suspected of being used to ingest cocaine. Detectives then discovered a large bag of methamphetamine hidden in a compartment under the dashboard. The illegal drugs were located within 2,000 feet of a church. Simon and Ratcliff were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
