8 people were arrested by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office over the last 72-hour reporting weekend. Deputies responded to 115 complaints.

Peter Businelle, 68, 641 Seventy Nine Pines Lane, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on January 8, 2016 at 10:07 am on a warrant for prohibited splitting of profits, fees, or commissions, public payroll fraud, and public contract fraud. Businelle turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin. Businelle was released after posting a $300,000 property bond.

Cotney Rudolph, 22, 11050 Highway 182, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 8, 2016 at 11:06 am on a warrant for cruelty to animals.

Elvis Caro, 38, 11050 Highway 182, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 8, 2016 at 2:57 pm on a warrant for cruelty to animals.

On January 5, 2016, a deputy responded to a complaint of animal cruelty at a residence in the Franklin area. Upon arrival, the deputy located a deceased dog in the yard. With the assistance of a Humane Society animal cruelty investigator, it was determined that Rudolph and Caro failed to provide proper care for the animal that was left in their custody. Warrants were issued for their arrests. Both subjects turned themselves in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin. Rudolph and Caro were released on summonses to appear in court on March 30, 2016.

Delvin Darby, 22, 419 Robertson Street Lot #3, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 8, 2016 at 1:14 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, failure to use seatbelts, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of a possible disturbance at a residence on Highway 87 in the Franklin area. During the investigation, the deputy made contact with Darby and located the active warrant for his arrest. Darby was transported to the parish jail for booking and was later released on a $100 bond.

Devron Sereal, 24, 11105 Pecan Lane, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on January 8, 2016 at 7:30 pm for criminal trespass and no driver's license.

Corey Sereal, 41, 611 Cypress Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on January 8, 2016 at 7:30 pm for criminal trespass.

A deputy responded to a complaint of trespassing on a farm property off in the Jeanerette area. With the assistance of the complainant, the deputy made contact with D. Sereal and C. Sereal about one half mile from the roadway. The deputy learned that the pick-up truck D. Sereal was driving without a license became stuck in the mud. Both subjects were released on summonses to appear in court on March 30, 2016.

Joseph W. Youman, 49, 317 Rod Lane, Baldwin, LA was arrested on January 9, 2016 at 2:05 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and speeding and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of expired boat registration certificate. A deputy responding to a disturbance at a bar in Bayou Vista made contact with Youman and located the active warrant for his arrest. Youman was transported to the parish jail for booking. Youman was released on a $750 bond.

Devonte Carter, 23, 69 ½ Lee Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 11, 2016 at 1:30 am for driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling Centerville stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Lee Street. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Carter, and learned that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver's license. Carter was released on a summons to appear in court on March 30, 2016.
