A 13-year-old male student was arrested on Tuesday on 1 count of Terrorizing following a lock down at St. Martinville Jr. High School.

Major Ginny Higgins with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office says they received a phone call from an anonymous caller around 12:18 p.m. stating that a shooting had happened at the school. Sheriff's deputies, along with the St. Martinville Police Department, searched the school and deemed it safe, lifting the lock down.

Investigators determined the student's alleged role, arrested and charged him, then released him to his parents following his booking.

"Parents are encouraged to speak with their children and let them know that incidents such as this will not be tolerated," says Major Higgins. "Those who choose to partake in these types of incidents will be charged to the full extent of the law."
