Study Says Optimists Remain Healthier As They Age
Start seeing that glass as half full!
The mind is a powerful thing isn't it? People always say that if you dream it, you can achieve it and that if you can see yourself conquering those dreams in your mind, you're more likely to do them. It's like your brain wires the rest of the body to follow suit.
Which totally makes me want to work on the things I tell myself in my mind.
Recently a study out of the U.K. found that those people who remained optimists throughout their life, were healthier as they aged. Researchers looked at more than 7,000 people between the ages of 50 and 90. The people who felt like their life had meaning tended to walk faster, had stronger grips and felt less pain than those who were pessimists.
The key, they found, was social engagement.
And by social engagement, I mean with actual human beings. Spending time with people in person helped those in the study find their meaning in life. It sounds to me like you need to see your friends and family often and keep a positive outlook on life.
