Supsect Arrested In Eunice Shooting
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot says that a friend of a fatal shooting victim was arrested in the case.
Fontenot told KPEL Monday that 23-year-old Oshae Doffeny had been killed in the early hours of the day due to a drive-by shooting.
After futher investigation, Fontenot says they learned that one of the passengers, 19-year-old Daricko Stevens and other friends of the victim, lied about what happened.
The Chief says that Stevens did drive Doffeny to the hospital after he was shot, but that it was Stevens who ended up shooting Doffeny.
Fontent says the bullet struck vital organs leading to Doffeny's death. What led to the shooting is not known at this time.
Investigators say the two were sitting in the car together, and Stevens did have a pistol.
A group of people, including these two people, were also present at a fight in another town earlier in the night.
The story about a drive-by shooting was completely made up.
Stevens was arrested on a charge of manslaughter and obstruction of justice as the Chief says that he was tried to get rid of evidence while driving Doffeny to the hospital.
