Suspended Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope Qualifies For Re-Election
Almost immediately after qualifying closed for the November 3rd election, some voters had questions about one candidate in particular. Convicted and suspended City Marshal Brian Pope will be on the ballot. That's because Pope has not exhausted all of his appeals dating back to his 2018 felony conviction on malfeasance charges. Our partners at KATC Investigates detailed the law that allows Pope to qualify. It's an issue that has made it all the way to the Louisiana Supreme Court.
Here is the list of qualified candidates from the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court:
Nathan Broussard
Kip Judice
Brian Pope
"Reggie" Thomas
John Trahan Jr.
