For many in Acadiana, the lure of Amazon.com has been no tax and free shipping if you use the sites Prime subscription service. Well, at least part of that will be coming to an end on January 1st in the state of Louisiana.

WDSU TV in New Orleans is reporting that our state is one of several who will begin having to pay sales tax on items starting next year. Taxes have always been based on the shipping location of the product. Online shoppers have enjoyed tax-free shopping ever since the site launched. Amazon's market share, especially during the holiday shopping season, has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years.

Fortune magazine says Amazon was responsible for 30 percent of the cyber weekend purchases this year. No other retailer comes close in that regard.
