Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office reported that the accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15th.

LDWF reported that the 14-year-old boy suffered lacerations to his lower legs and feet and was airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital in Baton Rouge, where he expected to make a full recovery from his injuries.

The other two children also sustained non-life-threatening injuries. One suffered a concussion, and the other child received minor injuries that were not specified.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said the three children had fallen off a tube being pulled by a boat and were floating in the water waiting to be picked up when the Pontoon boat accidentally ran them over.

According to FOX 8, officials confirmed that alcohol was not a factor or cause of the accident. Allegedly, the operator lost control of the 25-foot pontoon boat and attempted to avoid the children floating in the water.

The boat responsible for the accident was seized by officials.

There is no other information regarding the accident at this time, and the story and investigation are still developing.
