Tim Tebow started a wonderful event called “Night to Shine” which involves churches across the world coming together to give people with special needs a night to shine. The event was Friday and it was a huge success worldwide. Tim Tebow's “Night to Shine” in Lafayette gave those with special needs in Acadiana a night to shine too. The Tim Tebow Foundation goes above and beyond to make this night truly special.  The red carpet is rolled out for an unforgettable prom night experience for people with special needs, ages 14 and older. As they arrive on the red carpet, they are greeted with paparazzi cheering them on. Women are treated with having their hair and makeup done while the guys get to have their shoes shined. They ride in limos and enjoy a delicious dinner.  The night is filled with fun activities and dancing. The best part of the night is when EVERYONE is crowned king and queen of the prom.

This is the 6th year and it’s always on the Friday before Valentine’s Day. Tebow, known for being an outspoken Christian athlete, said he wants to make the world a place where every single person is valued and honored for their “God-given worth”.

More than 720 churches, including 36 denominations, host the big event worldwide.  Lafayette started hosting the event about 4 years ago. This year, the event was held at The Open Door Church with the help of D.R.E.A.M.S Foundation of Acadiana. Lafayette had about 250 guests and around 300 volunteers in attendance.
