Tommy Angelle has announced today that he will seek re-election to the Lafayette Parish School Board this Fall.

Angelle has been able to impact students on a variety of levels as he was a teacher at Carencro Middle, and he served in the capacity of assistant principal at Ossun Elementary.

The school board member says so much has already been accomplished especially in his district which is the second district.

He says there are many things to celebrate including:

  • There is construction of new wings at Acadian Middle & Evangline Elementary which means portable building will mostly go away on those campuses.
  • Carencro High will be getting a new track
  • Carencro middle will be getting a covered drop off/pick up area for the buses.
  • The land has been purchased for an expected new Carencro Heights Elementary School.
  • Carencro High School's graduation rate has gone from 59% in 2014 to 71.5% in 2018.

The primary election will be held on October 8 with qualifying for races to begin on August 6 and wrap up on August 8.
