Two Men Arrested For Attempting To Smuggle Drugs Into Prison

31 year old Paul Lewis and 28 year old Michael Edwards Jr. of Opelousas are arrested and charged with attempts to smuggle drugs into the Avoyelles Correctional Center. State Police were tipped off about inmates attempting to get contraband material brought into the facility. According to our news partner KATC investigating officers identified Lewis and Edwards as the couriers. When arrested Lewis and Edwards were in possession of 50 bundles of synthetic marijuana and 20 packages of cigarette paper.
