Dr. Ray Authement was the longest-serving university president in the nation when he retired from UL Lafayette in 2008. As you can imagine, he left behind a legacy that won't be matched for some time. Eric Maron is the Senior Communications Representative for the university and has warm memories of Authement who died over the weekend at the age of 91.

Maron joined Acadiana's Morning News to remember his former boss as a quiet, but effective leader who brought UL Lafayette to prominence both in the state and worldwide.

You can read the statement from UL Lafayette President Dr. Joseph Savoie on the passing of Dr. Ray Authement over the weekend.
