The United State Attorney's Office says 60-year-old Bradley Smith of Ville Platte has been found guilty of two counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of receiving child pornography.

The jury deliberated 40 minutes before returning the guilty verdict.

Evidence presented at the trial included proof that Smith had been using an internet file sharing program to download and share child pornography in 2012.

In a 2012 investigation after a search of Smith's home, law enforcement found 40 child pornography movies along with 1,100 images of child porn.

Smith faces up to ten years in prison on each of the two counts of possessing child pornography, and he faces 5 to 20 years for each of three counts of receiving child pornography.

In addition to the prison time, Smith faces five years to life of possible supervised release along with a $250,000 fine.

Smith's sentencing has been set for September 24 of this year.

It was the FBI and Louisiana State Police that conducted the investigation into Bradley Smith's acitivity.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says this case is part of Project Safe Childhood an initiative to combat the crimes of sexual exploitation and abuse.
