(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today issued the following statement in response to the National Oil Spill Commission’s release of its report on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

“The report is credible and helpful in a number of ways.  But I was sorely disappointed that no mention was made of the Gulf still being virtually shut down nine months after the fact, which is completely unnecessary and counterproductive.  Related to that, I think statements in the report suggesting that the horrible misjudgments that led to this incident are systemic are really overstated – just not supported by facts,” said Vitter.
