Westfield Invests $5.1 Million in New Lafayette Facility
Westfield Fluid Controls will invest $5.1 million to establish a manufacturing facility in Lafayette, creating 67 new jobs for the area.
Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson said the facility will produce precision hydraulic and fluid control components.
“Those would be found on aircraft, helicopters, aerial unmanned vehicles, those types of things,” said Pierson, who adds Westfield is relocating this facility from a site in California.
Pierson said the facility will be located at a 30,000 square foot site in the Northpark Technology Center, and result in numerous jobs linked to the facility.
“You are also looking at the fact that this will create 106 jobs outside the fence line, bringing almost 173 new jobs to Lafayette Parish and the Acadiana region,” said Pierson.
Pierson says the average pay is just under 50,000 dollars a year, and benefits are included.
“Well-paying jobs diversifying the economy of Louisiana particularly some help in Lafayette diversifying that economy,” said Pierson.
The company considered sites in Texas, Florida, and Ohio before settling on Lafayette.
