An Acadia Parish woman is behind bars after she was caught on surveillance video beating a 92-year-old man with a broken liquor bottle at his home Saturday.

Jennings Deputy Police Chief Danny Semmes told our news partner, KATC, officers arrested Peggy Bergeaux after she was recognized in home surveillance video severely beating the elderly homeowner.

Officers responded to a call at the home n East Academy Drive at about noon Saturday. There, they found the homeowner lying in a pool of blood. Next to him was the supposed weapon, a broken liquor bottle, and his empty wallet.

Bergeaux was arrested at Waffle House in Crowley after officers attempted to locate her at her mother's home.

The suspect is being charged with attempted murder and battery. An armed robbery charge is also pending. She is being held at the Concordia Parish Jail, because the Jeff Davis Parish jail is full.
