Woman Says Deputies Tore Through Her Home In Mistaken Raid

GRAND COTEAU, La. (AP) — A Louisiana woman says deputies damaged her apartment by raiding the wrong home.

KATC-TV reports St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says Grand Coteau police led his deputies to the apartment to serve a "no knock warrant" for a stolen weapons case.

Heather Walker says she came home to find her door off the hinges, clothes scattered and her iPad cracked. Walker says the search warrant left at her apartment had a different address than the address on her lease.

Guidroz says Grand Coteau police officers had assured his deputies they were at the right home. The police chief disputed that his officers were to blame and directed KATC-TV to the sheriff's office for comment.

Walker says the sheriff's office replaced her door but the door frame is still cracked.
