Youngsville Woman Sentenced for Stealing $200,000 from Local Breast Cancer Center
48-year-old Sarah J. Broussard of Youngsville has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for stealing nearly $200,000.00 from a local breast cancer center and to filing false income tax returns.
United State Attorney David C. Joseph says Broussard pled guilty in April of this year, admitting to the embezzlement while working there as the business manager beginning in late 2009 and continuing through November 2014. Authorities say Broussard also did not report the stolen money as income on her income tax returns for tax years 2010 to 2014.
Broussard was sentenced on one count of wire fraud and one count of making and subscribing a false income tax return. In addition to the 33-month prison sentence, she was also sentenced to three years probation and ordered to pay $197,227.00 to the breast cancer center and $48,838.00 to the IRS.
