House Fire Takes Life Evangeline Man

A fire in a home on Hackberry Lane in Evangeline took the life of Nathan Whiddon.  Fire crews got to the 66-year-old home at around 7:30 last night to find it fully engulfed in flames.  He was pronounced dead by the Acadia parish Coroner who says he will conduct an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.  The home did have operating space heaters in the area of the fire origin. It is not believed that there were any working smoke alarms at the time of the fire.
