Acadiana Area School Closures for Tuesday, May 14 Due to Severe Weather

The severe weather that rumbled through Louisiana yesterday has left parts of Acadiana still reeling today.

As a result, there have been some school closures for Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Below is the list of schools and school districts that have decided to cancel classes for today:

Acadia Parish

• Mermentau Elementary

Jeff Davis Parish

• All Jeff Davis Parish Schools

Lafayette Parish

• Acadiana High - Due to a lack of electricity in some areas of the school.
• Duson Elementary - No power to school.

St. Martin Parish

• Cecilia Primary
• Cecilia Junior High
• Cecilia High
• Teche Elementary

All essential personnel (administrators and custodians) should report to work.

Graduation practice for Cecilia High School is still on and will take place at 12:00 pm at Cecilia High School.
