The Louisiana Legislature has passed out of a committee a measure that would eliminate income taxes in here in the state, but will it get final approval?

The House Ways and Means committee passed a bill that would eliminate state income taxes. The bill, sponsored by Ways and Means chairman Hunter Greene, would put an end to state personal income tax as soon as January 1st, 2012. Greene says taxing citizens may not be the answer to budget issues.  Greg Albrecht, chief economist for the legislative fiscal office, says eliminating state income taxes would reduce state revenue by billions of dollars making it more challenging to pay for healthcare and higher education.
