A baby in Bridge City, Louisiana is in critical condition after being attacked by the family dog.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said a four-month-old was mauled by a family member's dog on Sunday afternoon.

According to authorities, the dog attacked the infant after someone put the baby on the ground, while in a child carrier.

The dog had to be pulled off of the infant and sadly the child suffered a fractured skull and multiple severe lacerations, according to WBRZ.

Animal control was called to the scene and they confiscated the two-year-old American Bully.

It was noted in the report that medical professionals said the lacerations to the infant were life-threatening.
