Berwick, St. Mary Parish Mourn Death of Police Officer
Funeral arrangements are set for a former Berwick police officer who died over the weekend.
David Lee Duhon, II, died Friday after a battle with cancer. He was 50.
On Saturday, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office announced with Duhon's death on its Facebook page.
Duhon began his law enforcement career in 1999 as a full-time police officer with the Berwick Police Department. He resigned his full-time position with the department in 2008 to take a position with the Army Corps of Engineers. During that time with the Corps, Duhon served one year in Afghanistan.
Despite his new profession, Duhon continued to serve his city as a reserve policeman.
Prior to becoming a police officer, Duhon worked in the Berwick public works department and with the Berwick Fire Department. Town officials honored Duhon's memory with a Facebook post of their own.
Duhon is survived by his wife, two daughters, two grandchildren, his parents, and his in-laws.
Visitation will take place Monday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home immediately after visitation.
