Baton Rouge, LA (KPEL) - Tuesday morning, officials confirmed a boy was found in the Mississippi River near the downtown area in Baton Rouge.

WBRZ reported that the Baton Rouge Fire Department recovered the body from the Mississippi River and reached out to the coroner's office.

Around 8:30 Tuesday morning, the coroner's office arrived and confirmed a body was discovered in the Mississippi River at 200 South River Road, near the USS KIDD Museum and the planetarium.

Several additional agencies responded including the Baton Rouge Fire Department, East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office, and emergency medical services all responded around 9 am near the city dock and the Belle of Baton Rouge downtown.

A Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office spokesperson told the Advocate that the Baton Rouge Police Department would be continuing the investigation, but at this time, there are no further details.
