“Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time,” said Sheriff Thibodeaux. “We appreciate the efforts of all agencies involved in the search and recovery.”
According to multiple reports, the driver of the vehicle went in the water behind the levee at the 7000 block of Morganza Highway back on March 1.
Fire officials were able to recover the vehicle that same day but when they pulled the vehicle from the water, no one was inside it.

A witness at the time said the driver was inside the vehicle before it entered the water. Recovery operations were unsuccessful in locating the body at the time.
The identity of the deceased person has not been made public.
