(St. Martinville, LA.)- Narcotics Agents with the St Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop, yesterday, on a black Honda Accord on Malcomb Street in Breaux Bridge, LA., in reference to a traffic violation.
The vehicle stopped as it entered the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Malcomb Street. Upon making initial contact with the driver, who was identified as 22-year old Martraviene Nicholas of Breaux Bridge, Agents smelled a scent of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. When questioned about the suspected marijuana in the vehicle, Nicholas fled the scene on foot. After a subsequent search of Nicholas’ vehicle, Agents located suspected marijuana and crack cocaine.
Agents obtained and executed a narcotics search warrant for the residence on Malcomb Street and located additional marijuana. A clandestine laboratory was also discovered along with other items used to manufacture crack cocaine. Agents obtained an arrest warrant for Martraviene Nicholas and this morning, he turned himself in to authorities with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office and was arrested and charged as follows:
  • LA. R.S. 32:79 Improper Lane Usage
  • LA. R.S. 40:966A Possession w/ Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS (Marijuana)
  • LA. R.S. 40:967A Possession w/ Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (Crack Cocaine)
  • LA. R.S. 40:1023 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • LA. R.S. 14:108 Resisting an Officer
He was also arrested and booked in on the following charges for an active arrest warrant for previous narcotics violations unrelated to this arrest:
  • L.A. R.S. 40:967 Possession of Schedule 2 CDS (Meth)
  • L.A. R.S. 40:966 Possession of Schedule 1 CDS (Marijuana)
Following his arrest, he was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charges.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are pending in reference to the clandestine laboratory that was located in the residence.
