Cassidy Officially Announces Run for Second Term
Senator Bill Cassidy officially kicks off his run for a second term in Washington DC. Among the issues Cassidy says will be a priority in his time in office is facing the challenges presented from disasters in Louisiana and using what we learn to help the rest of the nation.
“And if we address them for Louisiana, we can help the rest of the nation. If you think about it, everybody has disasters. Everybody. If we have a disaster and we effectively recover, we can help others do the same thing,” said Cassidy.
Cassidy says he will continue to push for the use of fracking in the natural gas industry that has provided prosperity and helped improve air quality. He adds under Trump’s economy, the US has become energy dominant.
“Here you have clean-burning natural gas that is low cost, so they are creating jobs in Louisiana as opposed to jobs in China or India or someplace else,” said Cassidy.
Cassidy says compared to when he started his term, more people are optimistic now about the world for future generations. He adds that now is the time to pull together and meet the challenges ahead.
“And if we do, we will have mutually met our duty to address those challenges that it is our responsibility to address. Future generations will look back upon us and say, ‘Thank you very much,'” said Cassidy.
So far, there are no major challengers in the race with Cassidy.
