Copycat Shooting Threat Made Against Ville Platte High School
A string of threatening social media posts is making the rounds less than a week after a gunman stormed a Florida high school killing 17 people. The screen shot of the posts on Instagram were submitted by a KPEL listener early Monday Morning. The username has been redacted in this post to protect any efforts by investigators.
Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue says that the department is investigating the threats and that more officers will be on campus as a precaution. Extra patrols will be planned around the school. The chief says that once the root of the threats is discovered, arrests will be made. (KATC News)
Parents in Ville Platte have been sharing the post this morning as the school week is set to begin. We've reached out to Ville Platte police and anticipate more information soon about their potential response to the threats.
Calls to the school itself were unsuccessful this morning.
