Convicted serial killer Derrick Todd Lee has been moved from the Louisiana State Penitentiary to receive medical care.

The Advocate reports that 47 year - old Lee was removed from prison to an off - site location for medical treatment. Corrections Department spokeswoman Pam Laborde told the paper that 'federal and state laws' prevent her from revealing where Lee was taken as well as the nature of his medical needs.

Lee received the death penalty for the 2002 murder of Charlotte Murray Pace and is also serving a life sentence after being convicted of second-degree murder in the 2002 murder of Geralyn Barr DeSoto.
