Drew Brees Wants To Sell Sliders From A Shipping Container In Baton Rouge
Would you buy a burger from Drew Brees?
Would you buy a burger from the future NFL Hall of Fame quarterback out of a shipping container? That's the concept that Brees and Walk On's co-founder Brandon Landry are hoping to bring to Baton Rouge.
"Small's Sliders" is a casual-dining restaurant set to open near LSU's campus across from Tigerland, a popular late-night spot for college kids to hang out in BR. According to a report from The Advocate, the restaurant will be located at 4343 Nicholson Drive in the short-lived Bud's Broilers Baton Rouge location.
What's interesting about "Small's" is that the restaurant will be built out of shipping containers. The menu will focus on burger sliders and business will mainly take place through a drive-thru although there will be a walk-up window and space for patrons to eat outdoors as well.
There are plans to grow "Small's Sliders" into a national chain, but just like Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar, "Small's" will get its start in Baton Rouge first. Drew and his wife Brittany Brees are no strangers to the restaurant business as they became partners in Walk On's back in 2015. They also own Jimmy John's franchises in New Orleans and on the North Shore, have investments in the food delivery service Waitr, and have announced plans to expand Dunkin Donuts throughout Louisiana.
"Small's" is set to open in Summer 2019. Hey Drew: Can Lafayette be next?!
